In 2016, the Protos arrived in Carmelo, Uruguay to begin establishing a New Testament local church. In the following years, the Lord sent ministry partners to join them—GMSA missionaries, Bobby & Nadia Vallette, and Argentine missionary, Monica Paz.

Together, the team is focused on soul winning, making contacts in the community, kids ministries, ladies ministries, men’s ministries, and teens. The goal is to see a Bible believing church established with biblically qualified leadership, who will at some point be able to call their own national Pastor to take over this ministry.

In 2020, God provided for the purchase of a building to be developed for the advancement of the work in Carmelo. Phase 1 of the building project included fixing up a temporary auditorium, demolition of certain parts of the property, and the addition of a multipurpose room with bathrooms to service the facility. 

The project is currently in Phase 2—constructing a second-story parsonage. The Carmelo church has hired labor to remove the old roof of the church and replace it with a new one. When the roof is finished, they will be ready to receive skilled workers to come help with drywall, plumbing, electrical, tiling and painting.
