October Prayer Update

Girls’ Visit

Right after Mother’s Day, both Ruth and Patricia were able to come down to Argentina to visit us during their summer break. All five of us had the opportunity to visit Cristina’s family who has moved to Córdoba, a little more than 8 hours away from us. We spent precious time together, and the kids got to see their cousins again.

Ruth spent a month with us. We enjoyed her organ playing in church again. Patricia stayed the whole summer while she had her 4 wisdom teeth pulled. She played the guitar for all the services too. During this time, friends of the girls came down to visit for a week.  All the girls gave testimonies in church of what the Lord has been doing in her lives.

Andrés came up with two friends from his church to work on part of the audio installation for our main meeting room. We appreciate their generosity and hard work. The girls are now back in their Colleges training for what the Lord would have for them in the future, and Andrés continues to study and work from his rented apartment in Buenos Aires.

Gospel Tract Contacts

As we have mentioned before, the church handed out about 3,500 Gospel tracts at a national holiday celebration in May. Four weeks later, two ladies, came to prayer meeting due to one of those Gospel tracts. These ladies are twin sisters and both have been hit with cancer. They came to church knowing that God answers prayer. Sometimes they have come for our main service on Sundays, but many times do not feel up to coming due to chemotherapy treatment on Fridays.  Pray that we would have an opportunity to sit down with them and share the Gospel in a personal way. They have not come to know Christ yet.

Loosing Mothers

A couple in our church lost both of their mothers to cancer in a two week period. Even though they are confident their mothers knew the Lord, they are facing the challenge of raising their four children without grandma. They have also been facing some health issues as a family. Would you pray for them to be strong in the Lord and allow Him to work his sanctifying grace in their lives in the midst of these trials?

Children’s Day Program

We held a Children’s Day Program in August. Several of the brethren handed out invitations at school sidewalks and parks. Fifteen kids came out and heard the Gospel. We also had games and a snack. The adults had an opportunity to talk and get to know the moms and grandmas that brought their kids. We are praying that the Lord would bring forth fruit from this outreach effort.

Family Conference

In September, eleven believers from Gualeguaychú attended a Family Conference in Paysandú, Uruguay. Tim preached three messages on the theme: “Loving the Church as Christ Loves Her.” We have seen a great need in our church for a greater level of commitment to the Lord and to the local body of Christ. Please pray that these messages would be helpful in our churches to return to our first love. I plan to preach on this topic in our congregation soon.

Cristina’s Health

Cristina has been feeling better lately, for which we want to praise the Lord. She still suffers much pain from the fibromyalgia, so we would appreciate your continued prayers for her health.

Salvation

A young man who visited the church with his girlfriend asked to speak with Tim because he wanted to give his life to the Lord. The Holy Spirit was truly working in his heart bringing conviction. Tim shared the Gospel message with him, and he trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He has been attending all services with the joy of the Lord and has begun a discipleship Bible study. We rejoice at the salvation of this precious soul and ask you to pray with us for his spiritual growth, and that he would find a job soon. Pray also for his friend. We are not sure if she knows the Lord yet.

Thankfulness

Thank you for praying for our lives and ministry. Thank you for taking the time to pray for these requests also. We have seen God work in marvelous ways in response to your prayers! You are partners with us in “the defence and confirmation of the gospel” (Philippians 1:7). May the grace of God be with you all!

Your Co-laborers in Christ,

Tim and Cristina Goossen
