The Stewards

Curtis and Diane

Joined GMSA: 1980
Country: Chile
Serving: Punta Mira Church Plant

Curtis and Diane Steward grew up in western Canada and Maine respectively. After graduation from New Brunswick Bible Institute in 1979, they married and made their home in Truro, Nova Scotia. In February 1980, they joined the GMSA. Following language school in Texas, the Steward family arrived on the field of Chile for the first time on July 14, 1983.

The Stewards spent two terms in church planting and itinerant boat evangelism in the Chiloé Islands (Dalcahue and Achao). During a third term, they ministered in a new church planting project in the Central Valley town of Linares. After Curtis became the Chile Field Director in 1997, the Steward family moved to the capital of Santiago, where they served for the next 20 years in a wide variety of ministries–mission administration, church interims, and Bible institute among others.

In 2017 Curtis and Diane moved again, this time north to the coastal city of Coquimbo where they presently collaborate with a local team of Chilean believers in establishing a “granddaughter” church in the neighborhood of Punta Mira. They are excited to be involved in what God is doing here.

Curtis and Diane’s three grown daughters live and serve the Lord in the US at present. They have five grandchildren.
