Industrial Cleaner

Goal: To help with the cleaning of the floors both in the main building and in the chapel area.

Location area: Main Building

Steps to complete project:

  • Purchase the machine
  • Start cleaning

PHASE 4: Playground Area

The goal is to build a game-friendly outdoor area for kids as well as a covered soccer field with wire netting and lights.

PHASE 3: Auditorium

This project includes demolition of existing walls to enlarge the auditorium space, along with the construction of two bathrooms, two Sunday school rooms and a foyer for reception.

PHASE 2: Parsonage

The church in Carmelo has hired labor to remove the old roof of the church and replace it with a new one. When the roof is finished, they will be ready for the next phase of the building process, which is having skilled workers come to help with drywall, plumbing, electrical, tiling and painting.

The Carmelo missionary team is aiming to schedule work teams to begin in August or September of 2022 and beyond.

Landscaping

Goal: To provide some green areas near the existing buildings.

Location area: Near buildings

Steps to complete project:

  • Preparation of the land
  • Installation of a sprinkler system
  • Seeding of grass
  • Building of paths
  • Planting of flowers, bushes and trees

Unity Game Expansion

Goal: To add a variety of obstacles to work through as a cabin. This is a vital part of our program; it promotes teamwork and reveals character traits.

Location area: Behind the boy’s cabin

Steps to complete project:

  • Gather materials
  • Build and install obstacles

Swings

Goal: Create a seating area to have devotions as a cabin or simply a relaxed place for conversations.

Location area: Various places around the camp

Steps to complete project:

  • Build wood seating benches
  • Build and install metal frame to hold the wood benches
  • Hang wood seating benches

Maintenance Area Upgrade

Goal: To have ample space to work on projects.

Location area: Close to the camp entrance. 

Steps to complete project:

  • Install sliding doors
  • Build a roof over the area
  • Cement the floor
  • Build shelves
  • Install electrical outlets
  • Purchase adequate tools to install on a more permanent basis

Soccer Field Restoration

Goal: To recuperate our soccer field that once was green and now is brown or without grass.

Location area: Near the main building

Steps to complete project:

  • Give a finishing touch to the underground water storage to be used
  • Install a new pump for irrigation
  • Install underground lines made of better material for the irrigation system
  • Purchase new water sprinklers with their correspondent flexible elbow
  • Add new soil to the soccer field

Pool Area (Stage 2)

Goal: To continue to provide an area where campers can find a place to cool off during the hot Chilean summers.

Location area: Pool area

Steps to complete project:

  • Repair and resurface the current pool walls and floor ✔
  • Install new plumbing and electrical system ✔
  • Construct new sidewalk area ✔
  • Install new pump, chlorination and filter system ✔
  • Construct a new metal fence ✔
  • Install artificial grass
  • Construct 2 shade areas
  • Construct a kids’ splash pool
  • Finish the outside fence perimeter made out of Gabon
  • New lighting system

 

Outdoor Eating Area

Goal: To create an outside eating area near the main building area.

Location area: Near the main building

Steps to complete project:

  • Install posts for hanging lights and shades
  • Construct gabion walls (with benches incorporated into the wall) to establish a perimeter
  • Installation of sinks
  • Construct permanent serving tables

Boys' Dorm Second Floor

Goal: Adequate housing for campers.

Location area: Current boys’ dorm

Steps to complete project:

  • Replace doors (10) and windows (10) on first level
  • Relocate current divisions on first level
  • Add new electrical system on the first and 2nd level
  • Remodel the current bathrooms for wheelchair accessibility
  • Install new siding on first level
  • Construct stairways
  • Remove roof
  • Build second level floor (steel frame)
  • Construction of outside walls and inside divisions.
  • Build rooms and bathrooms
  • Installation of windows and doors
  • Construction of bunk beds

Outdoor Gym Area

Goal: To provide an outdoor covered cement pad to carry on different programs and activities.

Location area: Back of the soccer field

Steps to complete project:

  • Level ground
  • Prepare the ground for the pouring of cement
  • Pour cement floor
  • Prepare footings for steal frame roof
  • Install roof
  • Installation of a lighting system

Main Building Second Floor

Goal: Utilize the high ceiling to create a second floor above the current dining area (50×50 feet / 15×15 meters). This would give us another large meeting area, a game room and a control room for the first floor.

Location area: Main building

Steps to complete project:

  • Cementing of metal posts
  • Construction of metal frame to support 2nd level
  • Install floor on 2nd level
  • Build divisions on floor of 2nd level
  • Insulate roof
  • Add windows and doors
  • Build new bathrooms on the 2nd level
  • Installation of a lighting system

Park Deck (Main Building)

In memory of Pastor Bill Park

Goal: Build an observation deck facing the soccer field and mountains, creating a seating area for meetings, devotions, meals, etc.

Location area: Main building

Steps to complete project:

  • Cementing steel posts
  • Construction of a steel frame (16.4×98.4 feet/5×30 meters)
  • Placement of deck material
  • Add stairs and lighting system

Landscape Secondary Parking

Goal: To have a green zone right outside the main building with adequate seating area (this also includes swings) to do follow up counseling sessions after meetings.

Location area: Next to main building

Steps to complete project:

  • Prepare ground for the new green zone
  • Add soil and plant seed in zone next to the main building
  • Add irrigation system for the new green zone
  • Add stairs and walkways
  • Add swings
  • Add solar lighting system

Main Building Addition: Chapel and Lobby

Goal: Create a chapel area next to the main building where a small group can meet. Currently the camp church plant group is in need of a bigger place to meet. This would serve not only for the church plant, but also as a new meeting room for the camp ministry. 

Location area: Next to main building

Steps to complete project:

Construct support pillars

  • Construct support pillars ✔
  • Extend existing roof ✔
  • Pour cement floor ✔
  • Build exterior walls ✔
  • Seal off exterior walls
  • Build bathrooms
  • Install electrical, water, and sewer lines
  • Build a loft
  • Install windows and doors
  • Buy equipment and furniture

Secondary Parking Area

Goal: Move current parking area (next to the main building) to the front of the boy’s dorm.

Location area: Main building area

Steps to complete project:

  • Level ground
  • Prepare ground for gravel
  • Add gravel to the parking area
  • Add solar lighting system
  • Add shade system

Second Storage Area

Goal: To provide an overflow room for extra staff or guests.

Location area: Behind the soccer field

Steps to complete project:

  • Build metal frame for walls
  • Build metal trusses to support roof Install roof
  • Build steps and ramp
  • Hang doors
  • Install electrical system
  • Install siding
  • Build a bathroom

Camper Scholarship

Goal: To offer campers that know the Lord the opportunity to invite an unsaved friend to camp.

Description of Scholarship: The average cost of camp in 2024 was $50. The saved camper who brings an unsaved friend to camp, and the unsaved friend, both get the scholarship to enjoy a free week of camp.

Approximate Cost:

  • $100 provides camp for two campers – one who needs the Lord
  • $200 provided camp for four campers – two who need the Lord
  • $300 provides camp for six campers – three who need the Lord
  • $400 provides camp for eight campers – four who need the Lord
  • $500 provides camp for ten campers – five who need the Lord

Game Area

Goal: Provide stationary group games for children and teens

Location area: Next to girl’s dorm

Steps to complete project:

  • Level ground
  • Prepare area to install games
  • Installation of solar lighting system
  • Installation of shade system
  • Add games like “spikeball”, “gagaball”, “nine squares in the air”, “human foosball”, etc.

Kid's Playground Area

Goal: Provide a place where children can play on traditional playground equipment with swings, slides, hanging bridges, etc.

Location area: Next to the sand volleyball area

Steps to complete project:

  • Level ground
  • Cement posts
  • Construct the playground area
  • Buy new equipment (swings, slide, etc.)

New Well

The original well dried up due to a prolonged drought in the area. An attempt to deepen the well was made but could only manage to go several feet. Water did come out, but not sufficient to irrigate, let alone to fill up the future pool.

Goal: To provide water for the soccer field, the bathroom building and other green areas

Location area: Next to the soccer field

Steps to complete project:

  • Contract a new drilling company
  • Select the new location to drill
  • Start to drill
